Stuckey's Impact

As most Detroit sports fans have heard, Rodney Stuckey, the Pistons first pick in the 2007 draft will miss six weeks due to a broken finger he suffered in the final pre-season game vs. Washington on Wednesday. So what does this mean for the Pistons?

His teammates have said repeatedly that Stuckey is getting better in each game, making better decisions and commanding the point better. To me though, he is still a rookie and, in the end, this will hurt his speed of development than the team itself. By the time April comes around, will this really affect the team? I really don't see it. If he comes back healthy by the end of November he has plenty of time to learn the speed of the NBA to contribute.

Stuckey will be missed, but this will also give Aaron Afflalo and Flip Murray a chance to contribute and that could be blessing to get Afflalo in there. I was just as excited as anyone to see Rodney play some great basketball, but I think we will just have to wait a little while and everything will be back to normal.

Keep checking back as a season preview will be posted next week before the first game vs. the new look Miami Heat!
